Winner Tuesday Strikes Again

Are you all loving Tuesdays as much as I am? I can't wait to calculate comments and tally numbers and click on the random number generator button.

This week's winner is Tammy, who voted for many great characters, including the clothes. And, really, the clothes should count as their own character, they are so sublime. Congratulations, Tammy! Please send me your snail mail address so I can send you a signed copy of Edenbrooke and your Downton Abbey paperdolls.

And since we're loving on Downton Abbey, I thought I would share this fun video of the top 10 Maggie Smith quips.

Isn't she the best? I love her.

Now, on to this week's giveaway. I'm in a bit of a reading slump, so I would love some book recommendations. As always, you get extra points for sharing about the giveaway somewhere else. (Facebook, Twitter, your blog, a sign on your front lawn, etc.)

Ready, set, recommend! Oh, and the winner will receive a copy of Edenbrooke plus something else that I haven't thought of yet. But it will be awesome-sauce. Promise.

  1. I love this video! Cracks me up. "Put that in your pipe and smoke it." ha ha ha! Oh, Violet.
Okay, recommendations: Austenland and Midnight in Austenland by Shannon Hale. The. Best. Books. Ever.
And I also enjoy the Josie Kilpack culinary mysteries. They're the ones with food titles: Lemon Tart, English Trifle, Devil's Food Cake, Key Lime Pie, Blackberry Crumble, and so on.

    * I already have an ARC copy of Edenbrooke but if I should chance to win the little giveaway (first commenters almost never win so I'm not getting my hopes up), would you sign it if I sent it to you? I would LOVE to have an autographed copy!!

  3. This was hilarious! I just read Across the Universe. It was awesome. I'm about to start Uncommon Criminals, because I LOVE Ally Carter.

    Congrats Tammy!

  4. Ok - so I have yet to see Downton Abbey. We don't have Netflix, and there are 17 people ahead of me on the reserve list at Top Hat for Season 1. But one of these days I'll see it! Book recommendations: Left to Tell: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust by Ilibagiza, Immaculee. Also - A Bride in the Bargain and Deep in the Heart of Trouble - both by Deeanne Gist. I really want to read your book though - can't wait!

  5. I love Maggie Smith. I saw her in the West End in London a few years back in a play called, "Lady in the Van." Awesome. Anyway, you must read Shatter Me if you haven't already. FO SHO.

  6. LOVE Maggie Smith! Her timing is impeccable!

I don't read much fiction...mainly non-fiction psychology, philosophy, spirituality, self-help and personal growth stuff. Sorry.

  7. Ye-haw! I have to say this easily is the best thing to happen today! I awoke in a very GRRR mood and proceeded to send out a mass FB warning to all that they should stay out of my way. But now, I can label this day a WINNER and I have you to thank. I am very excited to own my own copy of Edenbrooke at last, and can also look forward to many hours of joyous cutting! Thanks for the completely agreeable giveaway!

  8. Way to go Tammy! I am so excited about this book, I am going to get it for my Nook (it is already on my wishlist for a hard copy). I hope I can win a hard copy!

  9. Alas! Or rather, I should truly say, ALAS!!! For that more accurately states the level of my distraughtness just now (although I am aware of the fact that distraughtness isn't exactly a word in and of itself). I cannot get the speakers on my computer to work at all, and I do not know why! Therefore I cannot hear the beloved Maggie Smith in all her splendor, which I am dying to do. Listen to me pantomime sobbing with reckless abandon . . . (I will always love her best in A Room with a View.)

  10. Maggie Smith gets all the best lines! Love her! Did you hear that Downton Abbey has been renewed through Season FIVE?!? So exciting!

Book recommendations? I just read The Garden Intrigue by Lauren Willig and loved it. If anyone wants to win a copy, I'm hosting a giveaway on my blog!

I just discovered your book on Goodreads and it looks lovely. Thanks for the chance to win!

  11. In my book club, we just finished Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay - a very moving book on a holocaust roundup that happened in France during WWII. It was made into a movie that came out recently. I really liked it (along with the whole book club), but it was a bit heavy (though less so than some Holocaust books I've read in the past). So, we decided to lighten it up with our next selection. Wings by Aprilynne Pike turned out to be just what the doctor ordered for me! It was a super-fast, light, fluffy, YA read I enjoyed immensely. It's kinda like Twilight, except substitute fairies for the vamps. Sorta. It's the first of a 4 book series (the fourth due to release in May, I think?), not exceptionally well written, but entertaining and light. It's your standard love triangle and the author tries (with arguable success) to go a little Arthurian with it, which I gather from the reviews, she does better in later books. So far we've had nothing but rave reviews from my book club ladies. Anyway. There's 2 book recommendations for ya! One heavy, one light. I wonder if I'll ever win one of these ARC's!! I'm pining away over here! :)

  12. Love me some Maggie. I am reading The Paris Wife. I am enjoying it. I just read Wither it is a fun light YA read. When I get in a book slump I often go to my library and pull out one of my quick fav reads like The Giver :)

  13. I am currently reading a sic-fi action packed trilogy written by Brandon Sanderson, a BYU grad. It begins with Mistborn, then The Well of Ascension, and finally The Hero of Ages. Very interesting and different writing than I'm used to but I am halfway through the second novel and really enjoying them. Another favorite has been a series of Salem Witch Trial based novels. The Witch of Blackbird Pond and The Shape of Mercy were both very quick, good reads. Good luck with your search of another great book! ;)
