I finally overcame my abhorrence of iPhoto enough to post pictures of my last day in England. Hopefully this was just one of many trips to England, because I just can't get enough of that place. It's all of my English and Scottish blood, calling me back to the Mother land.

| At Castle Howard, another great estate. |
 |
| An old-fashioned writing desk, which I believe dates back to the Regency period, if not earlier. I love how it all folds up so neatly. This was obviously a man's desk. |
 |
| Marla and me at Castle Howard from the back side of the house. Everything is so grand in scale and design. |
 |
| Inside the domed entryway at Castle Howard. I'm standing on the second floor balcony that overlooks the main floor. |
 |
More red-roofed houses in Whitby. I loved the look of this sea-side town.

England is in my blood too. I sometimes think about my favorite villages and places when I'm trying to relax.
ReplyDeleteA good friend of mine and I agree: there's something special about that island. Something ancient, something living in the air or the earth that awakens the creator in our minds.
It truly is a place that gets under your skin in the best possible ways.
I couldn't have said it better myself, Amy!
DeleteIncredible pictures! And Castle Howard looks a lot like the one on the cover of Edenbrooke. Is it?
ReplyDeleteAnd have I mentioned lately how much I loved Edenbrooke? I'm STILL thinking about it! Fabulous job, my friend, fabulous job.
Thanks, Peggy! That means a lot coming from you, because I know this isn't your typical read. :)
DeleteHello, Julianne! So, I just finished Edenbrooke and had to pop over to tell you how much I loved it. It came highly reccomended at storymakers and I am so happy I picked it up. (And so glad I have a signed copy:) Lovely, lovely story and I'm looking forward to your next! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ruth! I remember meeting you at Storymakers because my mom's name is Ruth also. I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
DeleteJust read your book last night! Literally started it at 10 pm and read until I finished it. I couldn't put it down! Was looking to see if you had any others and just learned it was your first. Hopefully you will write another!
ReplyDeleteLooks so fun! But I'm surprised that there's not a picture of you twirling :) I got your book for mothers day and caught a cold monday...read all day tuesday. LOVED IT! Thanks for feeding my 19th century england appetite! I've waited far too long for something like this. Can't wait for more!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I wish I could get sick and take a day off just so I could spend it in bed with a good book. That is my favorite way to read...especially if it's raining or snowing outside.
DeleteHad to write and tell you that I loved Edenbrooke. A lot. I'm a huge Jane Austen fan (and British fan --just call me an anglophile) and I've really enjoyed reading about your trip to England. I also have a lot of Scottish/English heritage, and I often wonder if that is why I feel such a pull towards that country. I've only been once, but I'm certainly going to go again!
ReplyDeleteExcited to read more of what you write!
Thanks, Cheryl! I'm always happy to meet fellow Anglophiles. :)
DeleteI love England! Lived there for several years as a kid (we were an Air Force family) and one of my dreams is to return there as an adult one day. Thanks for sharing your pics!
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous you actually got to live there! And it was so nice to finally meet you at Storymakers. I hope your own writing is going well!
